By the pier we found a man promoting his tours.  “Show us your island,” we asked and he did.  Pete was born in Tahiti and now lives in Bora Bora.  We didn’t want to sit in the rear benches of his truck with glass dividing us so I gave my daughter the passenger seat and maneuvered myself around the gear shift.  My Yoga paid off as I definitely had to be flexible in more ways than one, During our tour, in a random spot Pete stopped the truck and jumped out. Before we knew it he was shaking a tree.  This tree was distinctive.  It had edges running down its side and beared fruit resembling a star, hence its name, Starfruit.  While the entire fruit is edible and often eaten out of hand, we refrained as Pete spit on it to clean it before offering.  We said we were just too full from lunch!  We were not sure what was more unmarred by the turquoise water of Bora Bora or our guide who spit on the fruit to clean it for us and who stopped along the way to grab dogs in the road to make sure they made it home!  After all, he knew every resident of the island!
