Frequently Asked Questions About Anonymous Traveler Groups

What is the Difference Between Your Cruises Called Individuals and SOLO?

Anyone can book the cruises listed on Anonymous Traveler – Individuals, Family & Friends. All Bookings will benefit from our Discounted Rates and On-Board Credits. In fact, it is highly unlikely that you will meet anyone on-board who is part of that group unless it is by chance. SOLO Groups were put together as private hosted programs where Single Supplements are greatly reduced or waived.

Why Would I Want to Book with Your Group?

Because our Group Rates have been negotiated with the individual cruise lines and the cost will be less than advertised rates. You will also receive our group amenities.

What about Flights?

The Cruise Provider will arrange air if you wish, though you will have the option of booking your own. Often, people want to use frequent flyer points and that is fine with us.

What Does All-Inclusive Mean?

“All-inclusive” is a term that really only applies to a handful of luxury cruises and resorts yet the term can be misleading.

While the majority of standard amenities are included in “All-Inclusive” there are often venues, specialty items, premium beverages and personal items which are not included.

As an example is caviar.  Caviar could be on the menu one night and every other other night be available though at an additional charge.

Another example is Internet.  Sometimes Cruise Lines include unlimited Internet yet other lines do not.

If you want a massage, dry cleaning, etc. chances are you’ll need to pay at the end of the trip.

Often onshore adventures (though arranged through the ship,) are extra.  Sometimes the ship offers an included option or two. There are “all- inclusive” ships that do not include shore excursions. Usually gratuities’ and service charges are included.

How Do We Decide on Cabins?

Not every cabin or hotel room is created equally.  Our clients get the best cabins in the best location as we know the ship, though the earlier you decide to travel, the easier it is to get the best cabin.

Do I need Trip Insurance?

We believe in buying insurance and ask that you sign a waiver if you choose to travel without it because you are investing a good deal of money in luxury travel. We will explain to you the rules of canceling your trip and getting back deposits, though each vendor has different rules and different policies

There are many differences between cruise line and third-party insurance policies. No matter what policy you decide, it is important to understand what your policy covers…especially regarding pre-existing conditions.  With many policies, you need to purchase insurance within days of making any deposit on your trip or you lose pre-existing coverages. It is important to read the fine print and call the insurance provide to ask questions. There can be very strict time frames with the pre-existing clauses. It isn’t complicated, though the rules must be followed to make sure you are covered.

Frequently Asked Questions about Anonymous Traveler’s SOLO Groups

Will I have to pay more as a SOLO?

We have selected several cruises that are waiving single supplements, though the amount of rooms will be limited, so please book early to not be disappointed.

Is the Single Supplement Waived?

On some cruises, the single supplement is discounted not waived, so please inquire with us directly for each voyage!   Please read the fine print and call us if you have questions.

Can you pair me with someone else on the cruise?

Sorry, not at this time.  We have been very selective in the cruises and tours to make sure our SOLO travelers can either have their own room or pay the lowest supplement.

Will I get much time to myself on a River Cruise?

Our River Cruises tend to be packed with sightseeing so that you can get the most out of the destination, though evenings are generally free for travelers to do as they wish.  It is your choice to participate or not.

Will I get much time to myself on an Ocean Cruise?

On the Ocean Cruises, there will be lots of free time if you choose to head off on your own.  We will always have a shore excursion put together that you can participate in if you choose.  Our group will often stick together for breakfast and evening meals, though this is entirely a personal choice – if you prefer to head off on your own and explore, you are more than welcome to do so.

Depending on the day’s schedule, we’ll always try to factor in free time so you can walk around at leisure taking photographs and enjoying the site your way. Our Ocean Voyages often include a few free afternoons or a free day here and there. Join us or simply relax.

Are Anonymous Traveler Cruises suitable for those over 50?

Yes, absolutely. Most of our trips involve a moderate level of activity, like exploring historic sites, boarding trains, walking through local markets, etc.  So you do need to be in good health to participate in many of the daily activities.

Are Anonymous Traveler Cruises suitable for those under 50?

Yes, though our average traveler is over 50.

What should I expect?

If you have taken the option of arranging your own flights, we will meet at the hotel or the ship.  If we have made your flight arrangements, then arrival transfers are included.

You’ll be met on your arrival and taken to the hotel or ship where we will meet the rest of the other travelers.

The group often gels quite quickly and will choose to spend meals together but you have the choice to be as involved or as independent as suits you. Travelers can make life-long friends on group tours and often keep in touch after the tour ends.

On-board there will be private activities and programs hosted by our professional cruise directors. We will have tables so our group can always dine together.
