The new Kai Tak Cruise Port is about as close far from the places you want to go in Hong Kong as it gets.  I miss Ocean Terminal!  Even the staff is clueless where it is located and whether they give you a card written in Chinese with the address or not, it might as well been in Swahili.  The drivers outside the port know how to get in town, all 8 of them!  Getting back is pure luck.  This cruise ship offered shuttles but not through them, through the Pier which is okay if you want to go to some shopping mall but is that what you want to see in Hong Kong?  And it takes 20 minutes fro, KTCT as if anyone in Hong Kong knows what that means.  (Kai Tak Cruise Port)  What should cost $130 HK dollars might cost over $200 if you find a taxi that can take you back.  My driver took me back from Central to Kowloon and pointed to the door to say, “Get out.”  Wrong – find the damn place.  I am not getting out in the middle of who knows where.  Didn’t happen.  We passed another cab and I banged on the seat until he figured out I wanted him to ask for directions.  4 taxi drivers later, my original driver finally got there but not without running over curbs and parking rails, etc.  Then he pointed to the meter which was $250HK.  I handed him $150 in front of the transit police and handed him all the maps I had with the money. In English, I said, ‘learn where you are going.”  He just shook his head and took off!
